Welcome to The Chicago Area Chapter (CAC)

The Ninety-Nines, Inc.
is a non-profit international organization
founded by a group of women pilots, November
2, 1929, in Valley Stream, New York. Its
membership is limited to women pilots and
student pilots. The Ninety-Nines provides
support to women pilots and advances
aviation. In 1931, Amelia Earhart was the
first elected president, and the
organization's name was selected based on
the original 99 charter members. Today
membership exceeds 6,000, and includes women
pilots from 36 countries.
The Chicago Area Chapter of the Ninety-Nines
was founded in 1934,
as
the Illinois Chapter. In 1954, the Chapter’s
name was changed to the Chicago Area
Chapter, and in 1974, the Chapter
incorporated in Illinois as a not-for-profit
organization. Our Chapter qualifies as the
largest local chapter in the International
